The volume
Five investigations that refuse to pay in full for the question they opened. In one case the truth arrives on time, at the hour the guilty man set, and everything the investigators do well only helps finish a design that is not theirs. In another the puzzle comes apart halfway through, with an hour still to run, and the second question is worse than the first.
